Task 18 (20.05.)

What do you think about Jacob Zuma’s Statement?

picture

In an interview the president of South Africa, Jacob Zuma said that taking a shower after sleeping with an HIV positive person could remove the risk of getting infected, which definitely is not true. He now is convinced that he had been misquoted by the magazine that interviewed him. But this assertion was without fall voiced by his own person and hereby he betrayed his people, who trusted his words and his way of ruling the country. As AIDS is a difficult topic in Africa, there are only a few persons who know the real dangers and ways to fight against AIDS. People who don’t know the truth possibly trust this statement and think they are save, when they take a shower after having slept with another person.  In my opinion this is an irresponsible behaviour! You should always tell the truth in the public…

This week we really did many things. Thanks for your interest by the way =). I first presented my malaria-presentation. We talked about the situation of other countrie as well. Then we had a little „reading-session“. We read the „Spiegel Spezial“ on the pages 123-125, which really was interesting. We also listened to an interview from the BBC as you can on the „SF-Blog“.

Hi! Nice to have you back=). This week we met in the „Börse“, a pub in the Auricher City and we talked a lot about our Facharbeit, and problems and questions we had during our writing-process. We had some coffee as well and now we know much more tricks about how to write a proper „Facharbeit“. There will be no lesson next week, so you have to wait until 20th of may for the next entry =) Hope to see you  soon.

Here are some new information about our activities in the „seminarfach“. Today I got a special task about finding out something about a big problem in Africa –> MALARIA. The others were talking about their „Facharbeit“ and got devided in groups in which they could talk about their experiences by writing the texts and finding out new information. I can imagine that it can be very helpful to have the oppurtunity to talk to someone who is working on a similar topic.

Hey everyone! Again a week has passed and I can tell you about our activities here at school. Today we talked about the „Regenbogennation“- article which we were supposed to read until today. Then we got devided in groups and had to create a timeline of all the mentioned events in the text. Then we were supposed to comment on two of our schoolmates. After that I still had some time left and I wrote this small summary of our course today. So if you want just click around again next week=) .

Task 17 (15.04.)

picture

It is quite interesting that a person who obtained the nobel prize for peace, is said to be a advocate for the colonialism in Africa. Albert Schweitzer had spent many years in Africa, working in his hospital and treating African people to cure their sicknesses. One should suppose that he would be against the colonial powers because he pleaded much for them. Funnily enough this was not the case. In Schweitzer’s opinion the African people were small children or little brothers which had to be introduced to the European culture and which had to learn many things before they could be seen as a equal person. Obviously he didn’t see a contradiction in this. Maybe he thought it was his due to help the colonialists to form the Africans after the imagination of the Europeans, which would also be a bit strange because I always thought he would be an intelligent person, who knows that the color of the skin doesn’t say anything about the person…

A sentence by Albert Schweitzer

„Ich bin Leben, das leben will, inmitten von Leben, das leben will.“

in English:

“ I am life, which wants to live, amongst of life, which wants to live.“

Hello everybody! I hope you enjoyed the last week. This time we first discussed about a new article in our „Spiegel Afrika“. Then we had some time for working with our blogs We could improve it and also renew some things. I think this is quite good as all this work doesn’t have to be done at home cause it can be very time-consuming.
